GREEN EDUCATION IN GREEN ENVIRONMENT

The recognition of human rights and their protection laid the foundation of an unprecedented united Europe, the presence of international legal instruments such as the " UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights " (1948) and the "European Convention on Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms"(1950) have become a common standard of achievement for all people and nations. The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the most rapidly and widely ratified international human rights treaty in history. Nearly 25 years ago, the world made a promise to children: that we would do everything in our power to protect and promote their rights to survive and thrive, to learn and grow, to make their voices heard and to reach their full potential.

The children right to a clean environment is fundamental. It is both dependent upon and a precondition to a number of other human rights, including civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights. The right to a clean environment is not a purely individual right. Rather, it has a collective facet, belonging equally to such groups as future generations and indigenous peoples whose cultures depend on the environment for their existence and perpetuation.

By developing a student’s understanding of the needs and challenges of the world, they can begin to know their role and become advocates for a better future. We can help our kids become informed, conscious decision-makers as adults by fostering their curiosity and instilling a love for nature.

We know that increasing students’ environmental knowledge while also employing instructional practices that focus on interdisciplinary can influence behaviour change toward sustainability green literacy.

We know that students for whom the environment is a context for learning perform better on measures of general academic performance.

Because today's children are tomorrow's leaders, it's important for youth to learn about how to protect the environment.

The Green education is about more than curriculum, more than programming. It’s education that supports global sustainability in every way. A green education  begins with the future in mind, designing a learning experience for students that will prepare them to lead the world toward a healthier, cleaner, more sustainable future.

This project is part of three of our preferred lines of action in partners' schools: respect and care for the environment, entrepreneurship and the introduction of European programs.

The project develops social and emotional skills within students, teachers, parents and community as well as activating a sense of empowerment to help all the participants understand how their actions can save the Planet.
